My first mead-child! ;D ;D ;D

I sweated! I stressed! I worried! I had questions! ???

Was my honey sufficiently dissolved? Not at first it wasn't, but once enough of the heck was shaken out of the must, it was.

Was it ok that I sanitized the knife that I cut up my orange with? No instructions to do that, but I did it anyway. :D

How on earth do you operate an airlock? Well, you do the best you can. And I can say with pride that right now, I've got bubbles coming up at slightly more than 60 per minute! 8)

I realized about half an hour after putting on the airlock that I hadn't added the water up to 3 inches from the top. When I took off the airlock to add the water, I was gifted with a noseful of a fragrance I've never known before. Being a Christian sort of gal, I did briefly give thanks to God and invite Him back in two months.

Joe, either way I've already enjoyed this way more than many other things I've tried.

I'll let all y'all know how it looks later on!

I stared at my JAO for hours the first few days. It was exciting to watch. I wanted to suck up the foam with a straw, it smelled so good. >:D

I'm guessing you made a 1-gallon batch. It'll finish fermenting sooner than you think, only took about 25 days for mine. Clearing slowly but surely still. Sneaking a taste doesn't hurt, though. :p

I started it at 9:30PM last night. At 6:00AM this morning, I was still making my journal notes and watching the bubbles. Man, its bubbling like its sitting on the stove simmering.

Nu, first parents. We don't know who to have more sympathy for, the parent or the first child. :)

Pictures! There must be pictures! :)
