Hey guys I know some green thumbs are out there.

I am trying to get a Raspberry patch going in my garden. I was given some to transplant last summer, long story here but it ends with only 2 plants surviving. This year I have the chance to go dig the plants up myself anytime I am ready.

So when is the best time of the year to dig up Raspberry plants and transplant? Any succefull tips out there? I have literature to help me grow the plants but it doesn't cover this aspect of it.

P.S. I guess I should mention I am in Michigan.

You should be able to transplant raspberries as soon as we've gotten rid of the frost for the year. (I'm in Grand Rapids, MI).

Transplant into good soil with plenty of drainage, and keep well watered. I have a patch of raspberries in my back yard that keep trying to take over the entire yard. I have to move them back into the planting bed. Once established they really take off.

We've had some crazy weather, but I'd say wait until the ground warms up a bit, and the plants start to show signs of budding before you transplant.

Yeah we are supposed to get 1-2 inches of snow today on this side of the state. None of my hops or aspargus is coming up yet.
