So I've managed to lose the records of my 2nd-5th batches of mead. At Pennsic War, I bought 4 1-gallon jars of varietal honey, and made 4 batches of mead with them, 3 gallons each total volume with tap water. I started the mead back around October, and have lost my OG readings. :'( Each batch was just straight honey and water, same yeast (White Labs Cider Yeast, I think). Any idea on how I can estimate the OG from that information? Many thanks for help - I haven't been able to google up a calculator that fits the info, although I could have sworn I was able to before...

Based on your recipes your starting gravity would have been about 1.140-1.150 with a potential ABV of about 20+ percent.

Cider yeast will generally run from 12-14% ABV tolerance. I'd say you're going to have some pretty sweet mead there. If you haven't already, I'd suggest that you take a reading very soon. I'd guess they would be around 1.04x-1.05x or higher.

Hope that helps,
