I just used my new honey truck http://www.pbase.com/storm1969/my_new_truck to purchase the largest quantity of honey I ever have!

Got 190lbs of honey. 60lbs OB, 60lbs Clover, 60lbs Wildflower, 10 lbs of Tupelo honey.

I will be doing 18 gallons of semi-sweet OB mead, which I have just gotten a new barrel for it to age in...

I will also be doing a small batch of Tupelo, a batch of Elderberry Port/Mead...

Any other suggestions?

What is the Tupelo honey like? When I was at Miller's today, they had some on sale. I considered buying some, but I was already getting 15# for the Apple Pie Cyser, and didn't want to make her go search for more. Besides, I'll be short on mead locker space after I put the Apple Pie in primary.

I *really* can't wait for the weather to cool down so my meading is dependent on carboy space rather than locker space.

Haven't actually tasted it yet. I hear it's light, sweet and is supposed to make a wonderful straight mead. I will let you know.

We bought a cheap fridge to keep in the garage, and a temp controller so it's good for controlling the temperature for fermenting meads. With outdoor temps in the 100's and no basement, we couldn't afford the AC bill to keep the indoor temp in the low or mid 70's for fermentation. It's generally between 80 and 90 in the house.

Since the garage fridge is specifically for mead, I call it my mead locker :).

Cool.
Our AC was out for three days last week. Can make you crazy when the temps in my winery were going up!
