I wasn't sure were to post this, so the webmistress can spank me if I put it in the wrong place.

I've been contemplating a pumpkin melomel. I called it "Pumpkin Pie" melomel because I want to add pumpkin pie spices to it, but I haven't come across a single recipe. I'm working on one using a small raw pumpkin rather than using canned pumpkin and a Tbsp. of pie spice.

My question is about honey. What type to use? What flavor honey might work best with the pumpkin's flavor?

I must not have put in the right combination of words, because I tried the search. :-\
Thank you, though. I appear to be on the right track, but there is still some info I had not taken into concideration.

No problem. Sometimes the search tool can be a bit tricky. You'll figure it out eventually. ;D

I hope your recipe turns out well. Remember to post it when you get things started.

Welcome to "GotMead?"

Use a well sanitized paint filter or a grain bag to hold the pumpkin. Otherwise racking is a real huge PITA. Pumpkin puree really clogs up your racking cane. :BangHead:

I'd suggest cutting the fresh pumpkin up and roasting it in the oven until you get some good color. The pack the chunks into the bag and rack on to it.

Good luck,
