John Gauntner, a world-recognized sake expert from Japan, will present a lecture on the fundamentals of Japan's indigenous beverage. The talk will cover an explanation of what sake is, its basic production, short history, grades, a description of good sake and not so good sake, temperature, vessels, storage and more. The tasting that follows will demonstrate the variety of flavor profiles that the beverage can present, and help solidify the information presented in the lecture.
Mr. Gauntner is an educator, writer of articles and books on sake as well as the only non-Japanese to provide regular sake-related consulting assistance in the form of lectures to the Government of Japan.
