I have a batch of melomel Im making and it is bubbling nicely. Upon making it though there is quite a bit of pulp from strawberries/rasberries in the primary fermenter. I was curious if using a rubber band and a copper scrubber on the end of the siphon hose would work ok as a filter so I dont end up with a bunch of muck in the secondary. Do you guys know of an alternative to this or a smarter way of taking primary to secondary and avoid having all the gunk end up in it?

I do this as well, but I use the Stainless Steel instead. Works fine, you should also put a sanitized cheesecloth or women's nylon stocking over the tubing going into the secondary to catch additional chunkies.

Cheers, Oskaar

Thank you for the information and suggestion on this...

I have a batch of persimmon melomel and know I will have a situation with the pulp, even though I have it largely constrained in a cheesecloth bag.
