Hey whats up,
I am very new at the mead game, like so new that i just now have one mead brewing, but the question i have is the botting. Can I use cork as a seal for a 12oz bottle, and if so for how long. Or do i have to brake down and actually buy the bottles and the caps and the bottle capper. If anyone can give me some insight on this it would be greatly appritated thanks.

I think you need to break down and get the caps and capper. I think getting cork and a corker will cost more than a cap/capper.

Also, some beers (many Belgian ales for example) come in bottles designed to be corked. With most beer bottles the cork will not provide a secure seal for aging as the neck of the bottle is flared; and the neck of the bottles can break so do exercise some caution if you try it.

You may not need to buy a capper. My LHBS has a couple he loans out. You should ask around before buying.
