View Full Version : Stuck fermentation?

Hey everyone,
After I made my batch of JAO last night, we lost power due to a snow storm that moved through our part of the country (imagine that!). I haven't seen any activity in the carboy and the glass feels really cool to the touch. I'm sure it's just a matter of the carboy getting up to room temperature and then everything should start like normal, but what if it doesn't? Is there anything special to do to get the batch started back up again?

If it doesn't pick back up after it warms up again, give it a little stir/shake to re-suspend the yeast. If that doesn't work, then re-pitch some fresh yeast.

It started on it's own!! The carboy definitely felt warmer this morning and there is more noticeable activity in the carboy. My beer is going as well, so this is a great sign.
