Apparently baboons are becoming a real problem in S. African vineyards. This article (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/southafrica/7969313/Drunk-baboons-plague-Cape-Towns-exclusive-suburbs.html) describes the problems. Some are getting drunk on fermented fruit and the rest are just eating all the grapes.

Darned if they don't remind me of a couple of cellar rats I know!

You have some alcoholic cellar rats? Not terribly surprising... If I offer my rabbit anything alcoholic she recoils in horror with that "Are you trying to poison me?" look... but almost all the pet rats I've ever had would be head and shoulders into the wineglass... Hope they're not eating your corks!!

The scene from Animals are Beautiful People Too where they're all getting looped on the marula fruit is just priceless...

I'm pretty sure that Medsen's referring to the bipedal, primate kind of cellar rat, but I may be wrong! ;)

Next time I'm in the land of hurricanes, I can volunteer to stand guard over the Fusel Shack. I promise I won't let anyone (rats OR monkeys) come and steal mead. ;D

Odd, I always thought they were quite apt at shooting things on .za

And Baboons are about the worst critter I can imagine.

It seems baboons are smart enough to find a good time. Huzzah to the baboons!

Reminds me of the squirrel. It appears humans are the only discoverers of natures bounty. :)

The drunk squirrel video was pretty good. I'll have to leave some pumpkin out for the squirrels that live near my office.

In Anchorage we have waxwings that sometimes eat fermented berries off the trees. It is quite amusing to watch a drunk bird. We also get the occasional inebriated moose, but they tend to be more troublesome than the waxwings. Drunk moose (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72awOuWcfAA).
