View Full Version : Fig or Pomegranate mead?

Has any of you guys made mead using pomegranates or figs. Even just the Pom juice would be interesting.
Casually looking around I've only seen dried figs. Can they be rehydrated and used? If so how much would one use. I think a subtle fig taste would be interesting.

I've done pom juice mead, I'd recommend leaving it at least a tiny bit sweet, as when dry it comes across as too bitter in my opinion.

Figmead of my imagination (http://www.gotmead.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13395&highlight=figmead) used fresh (frozen) figs and turned out great (took a third place at the Mazer Cup International). The full details are in the Patron's Brewlogs. I'm sure you could also get great results with dried figs, and yes, the flavor of figs is subtle, but they give nice body and acidity.
