View Full Version : Color change with aging?

I figured I'd re-post my question here, especially since the original thread is probably in the wrong forum to begin with.

Has anyone ever experienced a color change in seemingly clear mead with aging? Specifically I made a batch of tomato-basil mead which has gone from an amber color to rose red after a couple of weeks aging in a tertiary racking. I realize there could still be some very fine particulate which has caused this color change, but there is no visible sediment on the bottom.

I was curious to see if others have had a similar experience, either when using these two ingredients or any other for that matter. It was just shocking to check one day and see gold, and the to come back a week later wondering where the batch went, not realizing it had completely changed color... :)
