feijoas are common here and are in season at the moment.
did a search but nothing came up. has anyone done a feijoa mead before?

i just bottled my cyser so i might have a crack at an apple and feijoa mead.

Since I've never even heard of them, I sure haven't! If they are fruits, they can be fermented, but with how much tasty success is another story altogether. It sounds like you could just scoop them out and put the pulp into a grain bag?

Well, I hadn't heard of them either, but a quick visit to that nice Mr Google to find out that they are related to Guava, and have also been grown as far north as Scotland, though the frost can waste the flower buds etc.

They don't tend to export them as they're very prone to bruising and it's hard to get them to a destination undamaged.

Soooooooooooooooooooooooo, I suggest that a google/forum search for guava and then follow that......

Just my tuppence worth...

I've tried guava, but never feijao. It sounds like it might make an interesting mead and I think it would be fun to try. Please post up a brew-log if you go forward with it.

Huh, that's how you spell it. My wife came back from NZ about 8 years ago and still talks about those things. I say go for it!
