You have to love going to a Homebrewers wedding and getting Oak Aged Traditional Mead and a Winter Spiced Mead as Wedding Favors. Somehow though I received extra 6 oz bottles I failed to get any of the Triple Berry Melomel :(

For equally, what's the word(s) ?, Ok, lets go for "tragic sentiment", have a look at this thread over at homebrewtalk post No 8 .......:evil5:

I'm sure it's a pretty common wedding favor given away by homebrewers/mead makers, but you still gotta love it. I can tell you the cloudiness in the picture is my crappy cell phone camera. I tasted all 3 varieties they gave as favors multiple times throughout the making process and they are pretty tasty meads. I know what I'll be drinking this week.

This is what were doing, but I think we are only going to give out a traditional. We're serving mead as well though probably a traditional and I'd love to serve our DE wild cherry but the cherry trees didn't have a bumper crop last year so it'll probably be a dry blueberry mead.

The hall wouldn't let them bring any home made Mead in to serve. Thye tried to get B Nektar Zombie Killer on tap, but they use a different distributor than the hall.

Nice, interesting bottles though, look more like jars?

Since most of the guests were unfamiliar with Mead they wanted a bottle that kind of gave a Honey Jar impression. Couldn't find enough Honey Bears I guess :)

Many places won't allow hombrew (wine/mead/beer), but if they do they usually charge pretty hefty "bottle fees". Know a couple of people to who picked their venue based on
what they would allow to be served...

Lovely part about finding a state park nature center, as long as the bartender is TAMF certified we can serve what we want. So it's all homebrewed beer, homemade mead, and perhaps some DFH for us!

When my hubby and I were looking at wedding venues we found wide variation in policies, one place wanted to charge us $9 per bottle corking fee if we brought our own wine, one place wouldn't let us serve our own at all and it would have had to go out as wedding favours, and the other said we could do it but only if they shut down the bar during dinner, and the wine is cleared off the tables before the bar opens again (we chose the last place and were very happy with it).

J's mead, beer and DFH...I may have to crash.

We did the outdoor thing as well and we had the option of them supplying or us supplying, so obviously we chose that we would supply.

The outdoor thing doesn't work when your hubby wants to get married in November and you live in Ottawa :p We were lucky the year we got married, the two years previous, it had snowed that week.

It wouldn't have worked for the friends wedding last night either, since it was freezing.

October on Delmarva so we're hoping for warm days and coolish nights. Ceremony will be outside by the pond during the day (weather permitting) and reception indoors and under tents in late afternoon/early evening. We're excited and even more excited to share our mead with people who've NEVER had it! ;D
