Don't ask me how, but I forgot about my mead in the basement. It's been nearly two years since the first rack. I'm wondering if it's still ok to finish and how do I tell? There's 6 gallons total in one gallon jugs. I'd really hate to throw it out and start over.

Let your nose and tongue be the judge, presuming you don't see anything scary growing in or on it. If it doesn't smell bad, taste it, if it doesn't taste bad, bottle it!

Check each carboy though, different things may have happened to each one.

If you totally forgot and have dry airlocks, you might notice some oxidation, but if it tastes a little sherry-like and you happen to like sherry, what the heck, call it a feature, not a bug :)
