I'm new to the board and making mead in general. I thought I might introduce myself.

I just put away my first batch of mead (Joe's Ancient Orange) and spent a few days just staring at the fermentation lock bubbling. Then I decided I would have some fun with it and make a short video. It was either this, or continue staring at that bubbling every day for the next few months...

I hope to have a successful batch and jump into the next one soon after that. Look forward to learning as much as possible.

Here's a link to the video I made. I don't see an easy way to embed it here, so it might not be allowed. Hate to get in trouble on my first post!

I can't imagine it being seen anywhere else. That's funny... I've never thought of myself as the type to go "viral".

There is something about that <blip>. Saddest thing when it slows down . . . . .

I too stared at my first batch for days. It bubbled like crazy for about 3 weeks then slowed down. Now I am about 4 and a half weeks in I guess and no more bubbles at all(it is sad not seeing it working anymore but it is closer to finished)... so I racked off the dead sediment into some glass carboys and they are just sitting there now. I plan on starting a 5 gal batch today that I can watch bubble away !!! Anyways welcome to the forums buddy .

First batch?
If I'm not careful, I can get mesmerised looking at any brew. I regularly lose 10 minutes of I'm sitting comfortably when I start watching the bubbles.

Its like my SW aquarium... I can sit there for hours just watching things in my tank and then I am sometimes finding things I didnt know were in there.

Same goes for my FW.
We got snails recently. Unexpected bonus food for fish.
