Much gratitude goes to joemirando.

He very kindly sent me a 3 pack strip of Fleischmanns bread yeast and the same of Redstar bread yeast.

Neither brand are available here but the intention is to make JAO with both and a control batch with local stuff (Allinsons or Hovis or even a supermarket own brand). Just to try and see if it does matter or whether there is any identifiable differences.

I fully appreciate Oskaars comment that the great man would consider even the smallest change as breaking the warranty so its brilliant to have the chance of trying the original recommended yeast plus some comparisons....

Again, thanks to Joe for sending the yeast.......

fatbloke,

Aw shucks, t'wern't nuthin'. ;)
I've gained so much useful info here that its the least I can do. Just... payin' it forward, I guess you could call it.

By the way, I just picked up two 1 lb vacuum sealed foil packs of Fleischmann's yeast. Two pounds cost me a whopping $4.49, IIRC. Hell, that's 181 gallons of JAOM! I'd better get busy! <lol>

Ha ha! I know a bloke who could probably offer a mortgage on what you'd need to buy the honey for a 181 gallon batch ;D
