Buy more racking canes or hire additional rackers?

Neither. If you have more than one batch running at a time, you are reducing the level of control you have over each carboy as it's siphoning. I prefer to do one at a time, which yes, it means it takes longer, but the greater control is preferrable to me than the speed of working......

The same would apply to using larger diameter tubing, then wider the tube, the greater the amount of lees that can be picked up - even by accident, plus the smaller regular size tubes allow for slower movement of liquid and less splashing and possibility of oxygen addition with it's potential damaging effect further down the line........

Just my tuppence worth. You may see value in getting the racking done quicker.........

Yes I took the slow road and one a time. I used to use a 1/2 autosiphon, switched a while back to carboy caps with smaller ss canes for closed transfers. The autosiphon always made short work of it, but its much more peaceful with the canes. More time for sampling, which I came to regret by the end of the day.
