Hi all,

How bad is it that I put too much potassium metabisulphate when bottling? I added enough for 6 gallons in 2 gallons...

Thanks for the help

If it doesn't smell or taste like a burnt matchstick, you're fine. If it does you can either let if age or you can pour the bottles back in the fermenter. That degree of splashing may well cure the problem. If not, you can treat with peroxide.

Thanks!
It does taste a little chemically, which I thought was odd because I was under the impression potassium metabisulphate is tasteless. I already corked them, so I'll just let them age. I guess my main concern was if they were safe. Can too much make it dangerous to drink?

I don't know about dangerous but definitely unpleasant.
