Here's the scenario- My friend and I each made a one gallon trad. mead within a few days of each other. Both took off and fermented well, then tapered off quickly. What we are confused about is we both have a thin(1/4" max) lees layer but then we have "the cloud". A 1 to 1 1/2 inch layer just above the lees that doesn't settle. Waited two weeks, no change. I'm a noob, but he has made several 5 gallon trads without this happening.

We are in Hawaii, and it has been hot. Like 80 for my bottle and high 70s for his.

So any thoughts on our clouds???

Time is your friend. Let it age some more or maybe even cold crash it in a cooler place will definitely help.

Yeah. Cold crash that mead and once it's done you'll see it break da mouth! Lol.

It is quite possible the temperature's to blame, but I've had clouds too. Patience usually takes care of them eventually :)
