Hi Got Mead. I recently racked my first mead to secondary and added kmeta and ksorbate before racking. I've noticed that not all or the sorbate dissolved when i racked. Is this normal? Should i have ground it up like i did the kmeta tablet? I've tried mixing it up but the sorbate seems to just float back to the top after a while.

You probably should have ground it up. But if it is those little grains, it still is going to dissolve, it just might take a couple days depending on temp - and as long as you only put in the amount specified on the packaging. Give it a gentle stir every so often.

In some batches, even when I have ground it up it doesn't always all dissolve right away. No worries.

Thanks Jim. Yes it was the little grains. After i racked and saw them floating around i wasn't sure if i should have ground those up also. I've got a cider I am racking tonight so i will grind up the sorbate and see if it works better that way.

Warmer water and more stirring before pouring it in should help in the future.
