View Full Version : Need some piano help!

I just picked up a 1910 Aeolian Stroud Pianola. Literally picked it up from someone who was going to throw it on the street. I saw restorable book matched tiger maple veneer under all the grime and I just couldn't let it happen. 105 years and tossed out in the rain. Not acceptable.

So now I have this monster in my house

I just had it tuned and the beast sings beautifully. It's got that ragtime upright sound I really like. But it also has 88 rubber tubes that are completely dry rotted and even more bellows that are crumbling.

Anyone know how or if the aeolian player mechanism can be removed? If so how? I can refinish the wood, and the piano can be played just fine without the mechanism. But there's no way I'm going to restore the works unless I can send them off to get fixed!
