Getting my geek on today at Miami Beach Supercon! Highlight will be getting my picture taken with Chekov and Uhura. Not too many more opportunities to meet the original cast left! Maybe I'll get lucky with Nichelle. Lol.

I was at a convention one time (right after Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, and a couple of years before Start Trek VI: The Apology), waiting to get into the dealers' room when I heard this familiar adenoidal voice (Think "Oh myyyyyyy") and turned around to see George Takei standing right behind us. Somebody came running up asking for an autograph and he very gently and politely explained that he'd be doing autographs later on and that he'd be causing a commotion if he started signing them in line waiting to get into the dealers' room, and that he promised that he'd sign autographs until every last person who wanted one got one.

I got a chance to talk to him for a minute (general small talk like how great I thought it was that he came down to see what was going on at the tables, etc.). Not at all like some of the others from... another generation... who would sequester themselves in the hotel room and be escorted into and out of the room where they'd give their little talk.

Congrats on getting the picture. You should have brought some mead with you and told 'em it was Aldebaran whiskey or Romulan wine or even pale Saurian brandy. ;)

Congrats again! That's a SCORE!

Yeah they both just walked (well, Nichelle was in a wheelchair) past the line and into the booth saying hello to everyone. Walter didn't speak, but he was very nice and all smiles, but Nichelle was very nice and pulled me down...saying something like "you're too tall...get down here with us!" I guess it helped I was only the third person in line. I can imagine that after a few minutes at their age anything can get tiring.

As to the "other generation" I have to say, I almost bowled Marina Sirtis over as I left. She as just hanging around outside talking to fans. She can counsel me any day, by the way...
