View Full Version : Foam cyser

Im making cyser from apples from my home garden. I did make cyser last year with apple juice bought from an orchard, but this time Ive tried to juice my garden apples instead.
Anyway now I do have several gallons of applejuice but 30% of the volume seem to be just foam floating on top. My question is should I remove the foam or just leave it in the primary ferment for extra yeast nutrient and flavour?

I would leave it. It will make better cyser that way. I have done many times in the past without problems.

Whats your preferred yeast and gravity.

For future projects how would pressed apple juice work as a basis in berry/fruit melomels. The reason Im asking is because with my old and newly planted apple trees Im probably atleast in a good year get enough juice to fill a 50 gallon beer barrel.

1.110 to 1.115. I usually use 71B, but will try K1V on the next batch, which I will be starting soon.
