View Full Version : Long-term storage of cysers

I've heard traditionals can age 10+ years no problem (given acceptable storage conditions) due to the natural preservative quantities of honey. However, I also heard that cysers and other melomels cannot be stored that long because the fruit aspect eventually goes bad no matter how well it is stored. Is that true? I know any kind of mead can age for several years at least and most of it will be long gone by the time over-aging can become a problem. Still, I plan to lay a few bottles from each batch down and forget about them for a long time before opening. I don't want to open a bottle of cyser a few years from now and find a degraded mess.

Visually my cysers look just like a traditional mead, very clear. Don't see why they would not last just as long as a traditional in storage.
