Didn't see a new thread for this week's gotmead live so decided to create a thread myself.
Wasn't working the following morning so I got the chance to listen in to the program again. This week's show talked a lot about the mazer cup.
Looked into the site mentioned by Oskaar where you can find score sheets similar to those used in the Mazer cup. Found these two nifty links:
http://www.bjcp.org/mead/Mead_checklist.pdf
http://www.bjcp.org/docs/SCP_MeadScoreSheet.pdf

I found the checklist useful to try to describe our own meads. These sheets are used for traditionals, but if we are taking Oskaar's advice we should be trying to nail traditionals in the beginning anyway. Also had a little chat with a member who went to the mazer cup this year and it was useful to understand what type of feedback one could expect

The following link to a pdf could also help us describe our own meads and help us understand what we are looking for. Of course, personal taste would ultimately trump what is said here. So if it says the taste should be balanced but we like a dominant flavor, for example, then by all means go ahead its your mead!

I also found the sections of the pdf in webpages through these following links. I might be missing a link.

Melomels:

While my post is focusing on what I found in http://www.bjcp.org , this thread is about yesterday's show in general so feel free to chime with anything related to the show!

I just recently got SoundCloud to cooperate with me, and was able to listen to the show. I can't imaging how much of a learning curve Vicky and AJ are dealing with figuring out all the technicalities to hosting the show, but I just wanted to offer some encouragement, and some feedback. I absolutely love the show in general, and look forward to listening in every week. The last couple of shows were really rough as far as sound leveling. OMG! I could tell there was some real gold that Pete was throwing down about how the Mazer Cup operates, what the judges are considering during tasting, how entries are categorized, etc., but I could barely hear him at all! It was such a horrible tease! I was in agony! LOL Again, though, I know this has to be tough beyond explaining, and I applaud Vicky and AJ for taking this monster on, and plowing forward despite the challenge. I raise my glass of (not yet award winning) mead to their efforts, and hope someday soon to be able to tap into all that wisdom of Pete's.

I get the feeling that Pete is not coming back to GML?:(

That would be such a shame

Am I missing something? Why wouldn't Oskaar return to GML? Was something said during the last episode?

Just a comment here and there that makes me suspect that. No facts.
