View Full Version : Fermenting outside?

I recently finished an orange blossom traditional with D47 and it turned out great but not perfect. It's only about 5 months old so I figure it will get even better as it ages, but I've been reading a bit and I think that it might also be that I fermented at room temp at the higher end of it's range--my house is typically 68-70.

I am in the process of getting ready to do a meadowfoam traditional and was wondering what options I have to do something more in range. I was thinking of two possibilities--using 71B instead, or alternatively (also?) fermenting out in my back yard. I have a nice, sunlight-protected space. The temps here are pretty reliable this time of year with nighttime temps ~55 and daytime to ~65 degrees.

Just curious if the daily temperature variation isn't worth it and I should stick with indoors at 70 like I've been doing.
