So.. my wife and I have not had great days...

She suggested we crack open a bottle of our Blood Orange Mead....

Wow, does it taste great.. moderately sweet... great color and the blood orange gives it an off orange taste..

Not too shabby for my first mead.. Her and I like it.. so.. YUMMY...

Glad it turned out well! Hope it motivates you to keep at it (and for your wife to allow it ;) )
Any plans for the next recipe(s)?

This was before I did SG and ending alcohol readings.. sorry...

As far as the recipe...

5 pounds Early Honey
1 1/2 gallons water
I added Yeast Nutrient, Energizer, D47 Yeast
Let set till Air lock had less then 1 bubble per 3 minutes..
Added Sorbate to stop any last fermentation
Rack off Lees.... Cold Crashed to remove other particulates
Quartered and removed the rinds from six Blood Oranges...
Added the mead and the oranges to a plastic fermenter. Let set for 3 weeks....
Racked off fruit and cold crashed with Pectin Enzyme.. then bottled...
Cleared wonderfully.. there is a picture on the forums somewhere.. Great color..
Then let it rest in our closet for about a month.. I know I should have let it go longer.. but like I said.. bad day.. and it was a nice treat..

You can still do a final gravity reading to let us know the sweetness level
