Brand new here, signed up earlier today after staring my first mead micro test.
Looking for a little critiquing on my first batch.....
I'm calling this a micro test as I am fermenting in a 32oz gatorade bottle, recipe as follows....
3/4lb wildflower honey (store bought, mid grade)
20 raisins coarsely chopped
filtered water to fill, leaving about an inch of head space
3/8 cup granulated sugar added to get the starting gravity where I wanted it.
1/4 packet Bread yeast
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I started this around 3:30 pm with a starting gravity of 1.085 - 1.095, my goal is 10-12% abv .
As of this post, 7 hours after pitching the yeast, it's bubbling steadily every 5-8 seconds.
I'm going the cheapest route possible with this first test to decide if it's a hobby I want to get in to long term, does this at least look like a good start in the right direction?
