Hi, so my recipe is as follows.

14lbs of raw tropical forest honey (Zambian)
5 gallons of boiled then cooled tap water
5 teaspoons of Youngs Brew Home Brewing Super Wine Yeast Compound For High Alcohol

I started this on the 28th of April (13 days ago) the airlock stopped bubbling 3 days ago, I didn't take an OG reading as I didn't have a hydrometer at the time, but have ordered one now, and I'm just waiting for it, my finnings and siphon to arrive to transfer it to the secondary glass carboy. I opened it up just to take a peek today and the surface looks like this. Is this normal?

Had to upload the pic to Imgur to share it as this site was making me reduce the size too small to be able to see it properly. Here's the link.

It's hard to say for sure. It might be your yeast compound or just stuff from the honey. Stir it back into your must. You need to keep stirring your must anyway. Don't boil your water unless you have to. If you do boil you need to work very hard to reoxygen it. Boiling removes all the oxygen that yeast need.
