I am thinking of tryin a mango mead any suggestions would be helpful mostly on the fruit to honey to ratios what kind of honey should be used. I will Most likely use 1 to 1 an a half lbs of mango and 12 to 15 pounds of a weak flavored honey foar a five gallon batch ??? ??? :-/ Ideas please

Hi Firewater,

I think that Orange Blossom honey would be a nice compliment to your mango. One of my buddies here in So Cal made a mango mel a few years back and called it "Whango Mango."

I think he used a blend of Sage and Orange Blossom honey for a total of 12 lbs. He used 12 lbs of mango that he peeled and cut in half. There was also some ginger (a couple of ounces) and he might have used some pectinase but I can't be sure on that one.

On second thought this one took almost 8 months to clear after a third racking so I think he didn't fine or use pectinase.

It was awesome!
