I would agree that meadmakers, not just in this forum, but everywhere (including SCA and local interest groups) tend to be more focused on helping others than trying to achieve some sort of one-upsmanship, like you see in so many other hobbies. It makes it a great hobby to be getting into. ;D
My first batch goes down in the next two weeks!!! Going to be a "Meth" (spiced mead) since I can't pronounce, much less spell the "metheglomelym" or whatever that word is... :
