My blackberry wine is going like gangbusters but has an awful smell. I'd recommend being patient for a week. A batch usually has three or four different smells during it's fermentation...

In my experience fermenting apples can give off a terrible, usually rotten egg like, smell. It should be fine.

Hmmmm . . . Scout, make a note: Do not start any cysers until the weather is cool enough to put them in the garage . . . :)

That rotten egg smell is H2S. Most yeasts with medium to high nitrogen needs will produce excess H2S and give off that sour sulfury rotten egg smell.
