Let me show off naively here - I'm excited about those 1000 hits. (The count shows 1060 someting hits, but I have to discount the posts and returns for editing, so a goodly margin has to be allowed.) It's great to know people are reading!

When the story finally winds up, I'm going to print it all out and edit again a few times, then maybe post the whole thing as one. Good idea? Vicky? Oskaar?

The autumn holy days extend over two weeks, from Rosh HaShannah to the end of Succot, so between preparations and celebrations time has been short. But it looks like winter is settling in and today will be rainy, so visitors have cancelled, the house will be quiet, and I will be able to travel in my mind to where a battle is about to be fought in the kingdom of St. Winston's.

/waves a wee flag for Miriam

I love this story, and think it would be VERY cool to have it all in one area.

Way cool!!!!
Miriam - just so you know, I decided to wait weeks on end so that when I start reading I have more than one installment at a time. I am however hooked and the best plans go awry, so now I'm in the same boat with your other readers, waiting impatienly for the next installment. Thanks for a great story. Who knows, we might even do a group reading and put it in the podcasts - if they come to be :-[

Thanks again,
Ted

Miriam,

Great job on the story ;D

I think it would be a very cool addition to the site to have it available in one place. If you like, once you have scraped it all into one bin, send it to me and I'll PDF it for you and fire it off to Vicky so she can post it somewhere on the site for everyone's viewing pleasure.

Thank you for the kudos, everyone. I just posted the battle chapter, and believe me almost sent through heart failure writing it. ;D Please PM me with your comments!

Oskaar, I'll take you up on your offer: I'll PM you about it tomorrow night, after the Sabbath. I've been writing instead of getting things ready here in the house and time is running out towards evening. Shall I reveal Otto's destiny now, or keep it for the story? Nah, I think I'll keep the suspense going for a while. ;D

I really don't know what I'll do when the story concludes. Ask everyone to drink to me? I'd like that.

Later, my flowers!

Miriam, hurrying

Hi there, Ted,

You know what they say - the opera ain't over till the fat lady sings. ;D

I'm afraid no amount of red-headed wenches will keep you gentlemen happy, unless a certain sort of activity is involved - which is not my style of writing. :D It'll have to be plain old dybbuks, dragons and trolls for that exotic touch, I'm afraid....

I hadn't thought of another story, but I will think it over.

Happened to have this picture lying around -- I pulled it out recently and it made me think of Loong the dragon.

Ack!! I love it! Thank you, Dan! In my mind, Loong has a more human expression, but I can just see him pondering books like that. Right-ho! On to the next chapter!

Wow!!!

Well, I read the first installment shortly after it was posted. I haven't had time to return to it until yesterday. I just finished it (what is posted so far) and all I can say is that I'm anxiously waiting for the movie!

It's a wonderful story, well written and engaging.

Thank you Miriam.

Thank you, Ted...if you want to hear a recording of Thomas Morley's "It Was A Lover and His Lass," which Gloria sang just before pulling Otto's life together, here is a link: go to Thomas Morley - a menu will pop up, and you can download the song.
I love it!

I hope the story will be in PDF format, courtesy of Oskaar, in the next week or two. I need to revise and fix some glitches in it.

It was fun! I don't know if I can start another right away though...got to go and put my brain down a nice cool well for a while now.

Ditto on the accolade to you Miriam.

Where does the "song" come from?

I know that Gene Wilder sang it in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory".
