Which groups do you listen to for your Christmas/Yule/Hannukah/Kwanza/Holiday/Ramadan (and any that I have left out) to get your holdiay phreak on?

and . . .

If you wipe a certain holiday music collection off the face of the planet, what would it be?

Cheers,

Oskaar

Favorite Christmas music? I went to see Mannheim Steamroller in concert for a Christmas tour, and I really enjoyed it. Incredible musicianship and artistry. :D

What would I wipe off the face of the Earth? That Overstock.com commercial.

I wouldn't wipe out the music... just all of the stores, radio stations and people that play it any earlier than the week of Christmas. If you fall in the above category... you know you deserve it.

My favorite Christmas Song... Father Christmas by the Kinks!!!

When I was small I believed in santa claus
Though I knew it was my dad
And I would hang up my stocking at christmas
Open my presents and I’d be glad

But the last time I played father christmas
I stood outside a department store
A gang of kids came over and mugged me
And knocked my reindeer to the floor

They said:
Father christmas, give us some money
Don’t mess around with those silly toys.
We’ll beat you up if you don’t hand it over
We want your bread so don’t make us annoyed
Give all the toys to the little rich boys

Don’t give my brother a steve austin outfit
Don’t give my sister a cuddly toy
We don’t want a jigsaw or monopoly money
We only want the real mccoy

Father christmas, give us some money
We’ll beat you up if you make us annoyed
Father christmas, give us some money
Don’t mess around with those silly toys

But give my daddy a job ’cause he needs one
He’s got lots of mouths to feed
But if you’ve got one, I’ll have a machine gun
So I can scare all the kids down the street

Father christmas, give us some money
We got no time for your silly toys
We’ll beat you up if you don’t hand it over
Give all the toys to the little rich boys

Have yourself a merry merry christmas
Have yourself a good time
But remember the kids who got nothin’
While you’re drinkin’ down your wine

Father christmas, give us some money
We got no time for your silly toys
We’ll beat you up if you don’t hand it over
We want your bread, so don’t make us annoyed
Give all the toys to the little rich boys

I have that one (The Kinks) on my Christmas disk of MP3's

Here's mine:

I Believe In Father Christmas
by Greg Lake

They said there'll be snow at Christmas
They said there'll be peace on Earth
But instead it just kept on raining
A veil of tears for the Virgin's birth
I remember one Christmas morning
A winters light and a distant choir
And the peal of a bell and that Christmas Tree smell
And their eyes full of tinsel and fire
They sold me a dream of Christmas
They sold me a Silent Night
And they told me a fairy story
'Till I believed in the Israelite
And I believed in Father Christmas
And I looked at the sky with excited eyes
'Till I woke with a yawn in the first light of dawn
And I saw him and through his disguise

I wish you a hopeful Christmas
I wish you a brave New Year
All anguish pain and sadness
Leave your heart and let your road be clear
They said there'll be snow at Christmas
They said there'll be peace on Earth
Hallelujah Noel be it Heaven or Hell
The Christmas you get you deserve.

La la la la la la la la la la....

Im not much of a Christmas music person. But I agree, shops that play anything a week before Christmas do deserve an EMP….God imagine working with those tunes playing all day, an 8 hour shift…

If I wanted something related id listen to a Bill Hicks skit about Easter, that would get me laughing. ;D

I wish I could get the old Firestone Chsistmas albums on CD. They were a mainstay at our home during Christmas's when I was a kid. We pretty much had carols going every waking moment between Thanksgiving and Christmas...

Anyone else love to sleep by the Christmas tree and go to sleep watching the lights twinkling?

I hate you all.

I'm being subjected to "The Jackson 5 Christmas" album on a daily basis. I see now why suicide rates go up during the holidays.

One of my top 3 Christmas songs! I look forward to the day we actually get to meet and party together Mynx. If I visit my friend Christa in Washington next year I'll definitely try to convince you and your boy to come down to the Washington Ren Fair for a day or two to party.

Off the topic of Christmas but other Holidays make an appearance.

Get fuzzy captures my holiday spirit... it's all about the food.

For some strange reason I always seem to be anti-holiday.... Except Halloween which I embrace full force. Even birthdays... can't stand the standard Happy birthday song, never could, not even as a kid. Occasionally when my brother and I see each other on our respective birthdays we begin by quoting the first verse of "The Smiths" Unhappy Birthday. if your not familiar with it...

I've come to wish you an unhappy birthday
I've come to wish you an unhappy birthday
'Cause you're evil
And you lie
And if you should die
I may feel slightly sad
(But I won't cry)

Of course it helps that's we both have a twisted sense of humor and the song always brings a smile to the recipient. Of course I've thought for years there should be a Holiday 6 months from Thanksgiving. Misgivings Day where you get drunk and curse everyone who, and everything that, makes your life miserable.

and

No Sympathy Cards for people who make boneheaded decisions... Something like "You have my most sincere and heartfelt apathy." on the front of the card. then "I always knew you were going to do something stupid... I just didn't know what." or "This is just a quick note to offer you no sympathy." on the inside. (I thought of this in '93) when a ditsy female friend (of a friend) who had been hanging around a lot... decided she was going to have intercourse with this guy she'd just met on the second level of four level covered scaffolding where restoration work was being done... on a local church. She rolled over and fell off... breaking her wrist. My very first thought on hearing the story was "I always knew she was going to do something stupid... I just didn't know what."

Ok, ok... the prior post brings me to New Year's resolution numero uno...

I hereby resolve during the New Year to help create in Wrathwilde a more accepting attitude towards holidays. This will primarily be done by driving to Dubuque and getting him drunk (on his own mead of course) and enjoying a few (still out of WW's stock) myself while doing so...

Sound like a good one?

Happy holidays, birthdays, weekends, and other days of importance,
Pewter
