View Full Version : potasium sorbate and campden tablets

6 gallons plum pear melomel
racked onto extra plums in secondary added sorbate to avoid futher fermentation its been setting for a month

i think i read some where on this forum that i should use campden tabs with the sorbate
but i cant find the post and i dont know what to do
please help
im planning on racking off the fruit this sat

The amount of sorbate you use is generally based on a function of pH and alcohol level.

How long do sorbates and sulfites stay good in their bottles in the cupboard?
And for that matter how long do you think DAP keeps?

I keep my stuff for a year then order more. I don't use them very often, but like to have them on hand in case I have a situation where I want to use them.
