Fire up the BBQ, swill some mead, party like a rock star and share the fun with friends and family. It's another Happy Easter party.

Have a great Easter, and don't forget to hoist one for me!

We will. ;D

It's interesting -- the differences between Eastern Orthodox and Roman based Western Christianity are reflected, in a loose sort of way, in the emphasis on holidays. Western Christianity leans toward Christmas as the most important holiday whereas, among Eastern Orthodox cultures, Easter is the most important holiday.

And, both holidays have pagan overtones. ;D Christmas is associated with the Winter Solstice, and Easter with pagan themes of religious renewal.

This was an act of wisdom on the part of Christian missionaries, unfortunately practiced by a few and not the majority, IMHO. Rather than fight with cultural beliefs and practices centuries old, they taught new ways that interacted with the old. Christian resurrection? Pagan spring renewal.

Easter eggs and the Easter bunny, in what they symbolize, are *very* pagan, but also congruent with Christian spiritual themes.

A glass of mead, like Oskaar suggests, seems quite appropriate for Easter. ;D ;D ;D

The sacred drink of the High Gods fits into any religious rite ;D
