Default No Mead class at EAS 2011 honey show

    A post from beesource.com forum.

No Mead class at EAS 2011 honey show
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have just received the honey show rules for EAS 2011 Honey show and there is no mead class this year,I assume because of the lack of entries in the last few years

Are there any other disappointed mead makers who were planning on entering?
It is sad to lose any venue in which to show/promote mead. But to lose a honey venue in which to show a mead crafted from your own honey, is a very sad thing indeed.

To lose it due to lack of interest is unnecessary. I intend to write the The Eastern Apicultural Society of North America and see what can be done to restore the mead class to the competition.

I post this in hopes that some of the meadcrafters/beeks here might join me. Maybe if there is enough renewed interest, they may reopen the competition to meads.

If you do write in, remember to add your club affiliation. This could also help promote gotmead.com.

Not really, just that they are eliminating the mead class from their 2011 show.

Here is a link to their web site.
