Default Honey-based mead may curb antibiotic resistance, say makers

Reuters has a story about the possibility of mead made using "all thirteen" of the lacto bacteria 'normally' found in a bee's honey stomach can cure antibiotic-resistant bugs.

    Maybe hope, maybe hype. Dunno.

Seems to me that in the absence of knowledge we are almost bound by duty to volunteer as guinea pigs to investigate the curative properties of fermented honey beverages of all kinds.

Much thanks for the article. I keep telling everyone that I drink mead purely for medicinal purposes.

And if one glass of mead is good, five glasses of mead should be five times as good. I can do the math.

I think the honey is specially produced to contain those bacteria.

Meaning simply that they don't heat it I'd bet, or at least not past whatever temperature those bacteria start dying off at.

It also seems they let it auto-ferment with whatever is in there. Probably not too tasty unless they get lucky
