Greetings all,
I am starting first batch of BOMM, my only experience so far is the gallon of JAOM three weeks ago and all is well there. I have two questions, first the JAOM was at the bottom of the neck of the gallon carboy but has now dropped about an inch and a half, do I add more water to bring airspace back up to minimal or leave alone? Second, when making the starter for my BOMM last night I have mis-measured my honey and and my specific gravity is 1.36, quite a bit above the 1.04 called out in the directions. Do I let this ride, or remove part of the contents and add water to bring gravity back down or would I be better off trashing this and starting all over. Thanks in advance.

Hi. Sorry you haven't had a response to your questions yet.

Regarding the JAOM, I would leave it alone; you can add water but that will change your ABV and sweetness. The worst that will happen is minor oxidation.

With the BOMM... 1.36 is extraordinarily high (like almost straight honey high). Are you sure it's not 1.036? I which case it would be fine. Google how to calibrate and read a hydrometer if you're having trouble.

Not sure why, but he double posted this question. Once at 3:00 PM and again at 5:00 PM.

His questions were answered and we haven't heard back from him:
