why does the round wheel-thingy in the background (to the right, in the distance) look like some sort of mideval rack or other torture device?

I would imagine your security is good, but... isn't that just a little extreme? ;)

Ok oskaar,
This is my mom and I in front of my smallest batch of mead, anything less than 800 gallons isn't worth the bother. I mean what with the spillage parties and all.

Unlike you... I like to keep the racks closer to the sleeping quarters. ;)

Love it Oskaar! But it appears you're the Boy Toy in her cellar... as we can see from the newer photo in the post previous to Oskaar&Ally. LOL. Ally Oop.

What's that in your hand, a loaf of moldy bread? You're such the romantic Oskaar. A loaf of bread, a jug of thou and wine. ::)

Emeraldcop.

The 1st picture I Posted is in Heidelberg Castle, Germany.

The 2nd is the cellar of Domaine Thénard, France.

Actually I fibbed about the 800 gallons... The one I'm in front of is in Heidelberg Castle and holds 11,887 gallons. Built in 1662. There is another there that holds 58,573 gallons, built in 1751... drawing follows.

58,573 gallons

So for a sweet mead that's 4 lbs per gallon... 234,292 lbs of honey
