Re: bottle lable

LOL Brian, my girl has a pitch black cat.

A lot of the detail was lost scanning the artwork (like spiderweb, spiders, the eye and teeth the a in cat had), but I can't use a mouse nearly as well as a pen.

Re: bottle lable

Nice! I like it!

You ought to put a black cat face in the center. Something foreboding.

Cheers,

Oskaar

For Oskaar's amusement... a foreboding black cat.

Re: bottle lable

Foreboding - To indicate the likelihood of; Portend
Portend - To serve as an Omen or warning of.
Omen - A phenomenon supposed to portend good or evil.
Phenomenon - An occurrence or fact that is directly perceptible by the senses.

I maintain the Black Cat's expression is foreboding, of what we can only guess ::)

Re: bottle label

Dmntd,
Probably not... from some correspondence I've had with Oskaar, it seems in Vicky's attempt to make GotMead self sufficient we must be a little more mindful of our content. We're trying to create the IMPRESSION that the forum is a wholesome place... (extended coughing fit)... good luck with the moderators she's got and the deviant posters who make up the forum, you know who you are. With Ad dollars on the line... it's in our best interest to keep Vicky happy. You might get away with linking the image... with a huge warning of graphic pics if you follow the link, I'd let Oskaar make that call though. Nothing increases the view count like a graphic content warning.

Re: bottle lable

WW is pretty much on the money about the content warning, as well as the need for a degree of discretion. We're representing mead as a group, along with the IMA, commerical meaderies, LHBS, etc. Some of them may not mind what content we deign appropriate to post and display, others might. Best to err to the side of caution and put the disclaimer on the link as I did. Give people a choice to see or not to see as they feel comfortable. Last thing we need is to have someone make a hubbub over something questionable and marginalize our influence in the mead sector.

We have a number of affiliations with various organizations (Free the grapes, commercial wineries, commercial meaderies, the IMA, the MeadFest, etc.) In this case I am more comfortable being discreet and erring to the side of caution. This is Vicky's site and she makes the call, and I support her policy here.

Cheers,

Oskaar

Re: bottle lable

You're both right and I know better then to post questionable content to these boards (need to think things through).

I will post a link with a content warning.

Oskaar, can you post a link to the link you're reffering to?

Re: bottle lable

The last braggot really turned very good, it's become the first choice of my friends. Took a couple bottles to an all grain brew demo yesterday, it went over well and I got valuable input from a couple of BJCP judges as to what can be done to bring it closer to being an Imperial Porter style braggot. Planning a 12 gallon batch with the mod's suggested.

I'd been thinking about a name that better fit it's strength. Inspiration hit while reading a post by Angus.

This is a 5 minute paste job just to get an idea of what it might end up looking like.

Thank You Angus, for consenting to your likeness appearing on a label.

I was just cruising this thread....y'all are coming up with some *choice* labels. Makes me sad I can't draw a lick, and jealous that my labels are pretty mundane....::sigh:: I'm a no-talent wench when it comes to graphics......

Oskaar is right on the money with the 'we're associated with lots of legit organizations so we have to have at least the appearance of being clean' comment.

*However*. This is my place, and I'm thinking that a single board on the site that is clearly marked as WARNING: EXPLICIT CONTENT MAY BE PRESENT is ok. I'd still ask you to post smaller versions linked out to the large versions of pictures, to preserve my limited site storage and to keep the board from destroying the site width, but other than that, anything would go in that board for labels.

Besides, when the store goes online, Peter Vinton, the artist for the GM logo (website: http://wwwpetervintonjr.com) will be selling his wares on GM, and I am planning on asking him to design some labels for sale. His stuff can be explicit too, so I'm not one to knock it (besides, I *like* that sort of stuff, LOL)

Oskaar, dude, be specific that the *site* needs at least appear to be clean. *I'm* as deviant as the rest of you yayhoos.
