I had two straight meads I'd been feeding nutrients and honey. At each
nutrient addition I noticed a jump in activity... to a point (about 3 weeks in).

However, when I racked onto some fruit juice... yee ha! New lease on life.

So I have come to the conclusion that henceforth I will be feeding my mels
a combination of DAP, hulls and about a cup of the fruit juice I'll later be
adding in earnest. And my straight meads I'll feed apple juice.

Most recommend not adding nutrient beyond the first few days as the yeast isn't very good at assimilating them after this point, leaving the possibility of having residual nutrients in the finished mead and the possibility of off flavors.

Chances are that most of the increased activity was due to the sugars in the fruit juice, and very little by the nutrient make up of the same.

Never thought I'd be able to ask Oskaar if he even reads the threads before he posts. ;D ;D ;D. This made me chuckle.

I guess the things I mention just need to be commented on in general... To anyone listening. LOL.

Caveat Venditor!

Actually that was a mead free mistake. More like a lack of sleep and sheer exhaustion. ;D
