My blackberry wine is going like gangbusters but has an awful smell. I'd recommend being patient for a week. A batch usually has three or four different smells during it's fermentation...

In my experience fermenting apples can give off a terrible, usually rotten egg like, smell. It should be fine.

That rotten egg smell is H2S. Most yeasts with medium to high nitrogen needs will produce excess H2S and give off that sour sulfury rotten egg smell.

Cheers,

Oskaar
