Default Supplies

I understand there are sponsors advertizing here and I respect there need to derive business from that sponsorship, but none of them are even close to me and I went in the pathetic excuse we have locally and wondered why he bothers opening the door! May I ask for a good online supplier of equipment and ingredients? If they advertize here and I can't find them or their website, please direct me to them. Thanks

Midwest Homebrew might be good for you, they're in MN. Austin Homebrew is also good, and I personally like MoreBeer.

I've used Midwest a number of times. They've got the best prices and selection I've been able to find and tons of useful info on their website.

I have ordered from Midwest and found them fast, and compared to my LBS, very reasonably priced. Just wondering if there was a better mail order place. Billings Mt has an outstanding shop but 235 miles is a ways to go for a new air lock or caps or corks or yeast, not to mention heavy stuff.

I have been happy with both Austin and Midwest. Austin has a flat shipping rate (2 actually, breaking at $100) whereas Midwest scales with order size (calculated in cart). I usually would price out on both to see where my best deal is (usually Austin on larger orders). I have even ordered a glass carboy from Austin and it came well packed and unharmed.

I live farther than you and these are my suppliers

My first choice - MoreWine / MoreBeer / MoreFlavor - free shipping program

Second - Northern Brewer

Third - Midwest Supplies

I enjoy this searching thing and time to time I find interesting stuffs from Australia.

Saludos

I'm just in here to check these stores out...

I asked my LHBS if he carried a lees stirrer. He had no clue what it even was.

Are there any other names for lees stirrer?

Some of the other names are Mix-Stir, "Whip" (Fermtech's is called this), and degassers. I'm assuming that all of those would achieve what you are looking for. Lots of LHBS owners aren't that familiar with winemaking gear unless you happen to be at a shop that specializes in that.

Yeah I would say "degassing whip" would be a good bet.
