Default sediment/ scum on the top of mead(normal?)

My mead is about 6 weeks old and is clearing well but has a small of stuff, foam, scum, floating on top and around the edge of the must. The smell is good and Iam quite pleased with thee mead so far. I am planning on racking next week and was wondering if this normal? If it is normal how do I get rid of this? Mead men do your magic for me. Thanks

Default Re: sediment/ scum on the top of mead(normal?)

Currently I have two 1-gallon batches fermenting. Neither of them have made it to the 6-week mark yet, but I do have the gooey looking stuff on my foam and carboy.

From what I've been told, this is normal and sometimes the amount of it varies depending on your must preparation and the type of honey you use.

I've never racked before, but I don't see it as being a problem once you do. All you have to do is leave it behind.
