Default watermelon mead?

I am very new to mead making, only have 3 batches and they are all still fermenting, my question is I had an idea for a watermelon mead, and was wondering if anyone had tried it with any luck or if it was a lost cause.

Welcome to the forum, Ravensthought.

The forum search tool here should point you to a few members' experiences (the headings in white text near the top of the screen under the thread information, third from the right, between New Posts and Quick Links).

Mine was weird for a while but is starting to taste like watermelon again. I went to Jack Keller's wine website for my recipe, just don't add acid blend when you're converting a wine recipe using sugar into a mead recipe.

Default just to add

I've made a batch of watermelon wine using Jack K's website. My little addition is that you should use Montrachet wine yeast. It works fast and that will keep it from spoiling... which was one the biggest problems with watermelon fermentation.

+1 for Montrachet

My favorite all around yeast (so far).

I read that about spoiling on Jack Keller's site but I didn't have any problems with oxidization. Then again, I took 24 hours less to get to fermenting because I don't use the campden tablet he recommends...
