Anyone interested in this? If, so - what would you like to see? I was thinking complete log per batch, recipes, calculators etc

Hehe, damned autocorrect?

Sounds cool, good luck with it but I won't be using it, my phone's around the same equivalent tech level as my car :p ... ok, maybe that's an exaggeration, the car's 20 years older than the phone... but the phone's still coming up on eight or nine years now.

I've been considering writing something like this myself (someday :p).

A feature I thought would be really handy is an integrated barcode/QR code scanner. Then you could tag your batches with the code and scan the tag to bring up the recipe and log.

Well, I definitely meant pHone :D

The bardcode scanner would be cool. There's a big problem with barcode scanners in that there's no global code system, but for personal use it would be golden. Scan the code, get the complete history :D

I'd like to see one for mead for the desktop! I love beersmith for beer, but it lacks understanding of how a mead is made.

As for phones, check out brewzor for Android. It might be a good starting point. It is beer also, not mead. Not sure if it's available for Win Mobile though.

There are quite a few barcode scanner programs that have internet accessable databases for wines. I have played with a few of them. None have risen to the level where I would say I use them still. :-(

We belong to a wine "group" that sells private labels. None of them have bar codes on them. Since that and home made is the majority of our cellar, I kind of gave up on looking for a barcode app. Would have ended up printing my own labels for most of them. Too much work. I'd rather just drink them. :)

I wouldn't use it myself, but...if there's interest for it I could make one and hope for donations to support the development. Shouldn't be too hard and time consuming. The only problem is that I'm better versed in programming the brewing, so I'd need details on the calculator part and what you'd want for functionality.

In time, I'm sure it would be possible to make mobile versions that sync with the desktop app (making it more interesting even for me) where you could plot details on the phone when inspecting/tasting, maybe even take a picture of how it looks, and sync when you get home.

Seems I lost my edit, but what I wrote was that it would even be possible to let it access gotmead's recipes if the user had all the right registration informatiom.

This made me really think about what I'd want. I have not really tried to use Brewzor for recipes yet. Just played with it a bit. So ... I exported all the stuff from Beer Smith and will try to import it then make some new recipes and see how it works. If it does, I'd rather use that on my android tablet then have a laptop!

So in reality, a mead package is about the same. An android app would by far beat the PC version. Beer XML import/export ability would be plenty for using the stuff elsewhere.

The function should be pretty much what is in Beer Smith and Brewzor. For calculations, I use the Mead Calculator from M Zapolski. The first two tabs for honey and fruit are what is most useful. Using the math included on them for mead recipes would be very handy!

But ... you said Windows Phone. I retired my windows phone last year. I am really liking android now. I have no idea what it takes to port code between the two, but I'd bet it's not a trivial thing!

If you got rid of it last year, then it wasn't Windows Phone, but Windows Mobile. Windows Phone is a lot better. Unfortunately, there's no easy way to port between iOS, Android and Windows Phone...maybe you'd have to get yourself a brand spanking new phone - just for logging your brew? :p
