NOW ON GOTMEAD
Mead - Certified Recipes (Patrons)

This section contains the recipes from experienced Gotmead folks and other talented meadmakers who have created verified good meads that are duplicatible. Many of these meads are also medal winners.

Mead

Mead recipes - honey wine of all types. These recipes are gleaned from various sources around the web, as well as having been submitted by Gotmead users.

Since we have no history on these recipes, we can't tell you if they'll make good mead. In fact, a lot of them make pretty *bad* mead, so caveat emptor, and YMMV.

If you want recipes that have been made many times and are proven solid recipes that will make good mead if you follow the instructions, then check out the Gotmead Certified section of the recipes.

AMA Old Recipes

In here you'll find recipes from the old AMA, the Mazer Cup, and other sources that are for Patrons only.

The American Mead Association started publishing several newsletters in 1993, and ran until their last issue in the winter of 1997. The founder, Susanne Price, was killed in a car accident in 1996, and the organization never really regained its feet after the tragedy. Here we have re-published all the recipes that were printed in the AMA newsletters, with permission from Pamela Spence (author of 'Mad About Mead' and co-founder of the AMA).

“From the moon-car in heaven did Odin also drink of the song-mead which was in the pitcher that Hyuki and Bil had carried from the secret well on the mountain, and Mani, the moon-god, captured. But wroth was Vidfinner at his loss, and he mourned more for the mead than for his children.”-Teutonic Myth and Legend by Donald A. Mackenzie
