View Full Version : Extracting Honey, Some Pictures from Today

Looks like the girls have been real busy over the last few weeks. I supered up my three hives with two shallows each about a month age and caught a large honey flow. Ended up pulling 4 1/2 shallow supers and eight full deep frames yesterday and spent 4 hours extracting honey today. Looks like I got 11 gallons of fresh raw honey that has a bit of Orange Blossom and Wild Flower in it. ;D Had to use one of my 6 gallon primary buckets as well as a 5 gallon pail to hold it all. Here's a link to some pictures of the sticky end of the job
Just click on the "May Extraction" album to view it. Couldn't get the link to go straight thru to that album. :-\.Hope you enjoy the pictures. ;D

Heard somewhere that the bees identify thier hive by landmarks in front of the hive. I put the bricks out in different patterns to keep drifting between the hives from happening.
